Yesterday’s fresh-picked strawberries have become today’s frozen strawberries. Eventually, they’ll become some sort of homemade strawberry deliciousness: ice cream, margarita or mojito, cake topping, ice cream… Yeah, I realize I mentioned ice cream twice. Homemade strawberry ice cream deserves to be mentioned at least twice.
Since I’m not sure exactly what I’ll do with these berries yet, I’m just freezing them naked (no sugar). Then, when I’ve fallen completely in love with some recipe for jam or ice cream or jelly, I’ll pull them out, thaw them, and get cooking!

It’s too early for decent strawberries in my part of the world, but maybe I should buy some at the store and macerate them with some sugar and balsamic vinegar. Even the worst strawberries taste good that way!
Oh yum, that sounds delicious! Do you eat them just like that, or add them to something else? I’m picturing a bowlful of ice cream…
