Surprise potato!

Guess I missed a blue potato last fall.

I found this guy hiding behind some garlic plants. Pulled the plant, because it just didn’t look too happy, and I don’t want to risk disease. And — surprise! — this teeny tiny potato plant had already formed a single, perfect baby blue potato.

I always forget how fast potatoes grow…

can you grow prurple or blue potatoes from the ones you buy from the farmers market or supermarket , for the first time or do i need to look for seed potatoes in that variety

Sure can! Only, be sure to buy organic potatoes. The non-organic ones are often treated with an anti-sprouting chemical, which will prevent them from growing.
