Outlaw guinea fowl?

Guinea fowl on a suburban street

So. This photo of a guinea fowl? Yeah, I snapped this photo from my driveway.

This leaves me with one very important question: Why did the guinea fowl cross the road?

Ok. No. Not that question. Sorry. Instead, this one: Is this guinea fowl a rule-following guinea fowl, or a rule-breaking one? Put another way: Does my neighborhood actually allow guinea fowls to free-range along the streets? I’ll have to pull out the official covenants to find the answer. Either way, I’m amused.

Because, if free-roaming guinea fowls are allowed, then I live in a neighborhood that doesn’t permit front yard vegetable gardens, but welcomes guinea fowl. Strange, yes? But, also, fun! Maybe I’ll release a few more… (shh…)

And, if this bird and its comrades (I’ve spotted three in total) aren’t officially welcome according to the HOA’s rules, well, then, this is a renegade guinea fowl. An outlaw guinea fowl. In other words, my partner in HOA-rule-breaking. I like it!
